A Nobuiye Tsuba signed Nobuiye (Harae-Mei) Moku gata with characteristic uneven right and left lobes as seen in genuine pieces. Uchikaseshi mimi. The web has unequally distributed hammer marks and faint kebori of vines, gourds and leaves. Fold marks and iron bones show fainlty on the mimi. This tsuba was from the Prince Ichijo Collection. The accompanying box was Price Ichijo's Robert Haynes said that this tsuba is "not the big name Nobuiye" but not a counterfit. It is of the workshop and Momoyama jidai" Prince Ichijo is believed to have been a Japanese diplomat who served in the US in the early 20th century. His collection was sold throuh Joseph Seo's gallery in NYC in the 1960s.
