A nice mid Edo kinko tsuba in good condition. It has a brass ji and is decorated in shakudo as well as copper. It also has gold nunome, carved fukurin and nice line engraving on the ji. This is most likely a unsigned work from the studio of Nara Tsuneshige. He is well known for making tusba in this style. Despite being soft metal, his work was well thought of for use in battle. Nara Tsuneshige was born in to the Sekiguchi family and later adopted by Kawamura family. He was a student of Nara Shigetsugu and was active around 1750. A nice and representative Nara tsuba.
