Hamon :  Nioi-deki gunome midare. The nioi guchi is soft and luminous. The are are ko ashi. Sunagashi can be seen mixed in the nioi guchi.

Boshi :  Jizo on both sides with a medium long kaeri.

Kitae :   Itame hada that becomes masame in the ha. There is strong utsuri on both sides of the blade. Misty ji-nie can be seen as well as chikei.

About this sword :   This is a koto wakizashi of exceptional quality. It has been attributed to Daido by the NBTHK. It shows clearly the classic traits of Mino Den workmanship . This is by the shodai Daido who is a highly regarded Jo Saku smith of the late koto period. He was most active around Tensho (1573 -1592). This blade is extremely healthy and is flawless. It is wonderful to see a koto blade in such a great state of health and preservation. The jigane is especially vivid and gorgeous to behold. The utsuri is very clear and a joy to study. This blade was polished by Jimmy Hayashi. He is a top level professional Japanese trained polisher whose work is highly esteemed. The habaki and shirasaya are by Brian Tschernega, who is also considered a top level craftsman. When such a fine blade is restored by the top artisans, this is the ideal situation for the preservation and enjoyment of Nihonto. As mentioned above this is accompanied by a NTHK Hozon paper, shira saya and a double gold foil habaki. A fantastic opportunity to own a flawless, healthy koto blade that has been exquisitely restored.
