早乙女天法鍔
Saotome Tempo School Tsuba

Dimensions: 8.5 cm x 7 cm Mimi 4 mm

An iron Saotome-Tempo school tsuba with hot stamps and gomoku inlay. This tsuba has an unusual shape and quite intriguing overall. The height of the work is 8.5 cm, indicting that this would have been for a large katana. The iron has a wet patina with a satin luster. The use of hot stamps and gomoku inlay give the work an organic and natural feeling in ones hands. This tsuba dates to the Edo period. A fun study piece and a fine work in all regards.
