A classic example of the Heian-jo school. The brass zogan inlay style of this work is text-book for Heian-jo. This kirikomi mokko gata shape (four lobed with inome) is often seen in the Heian-jo school. This tsuba makes a robust impression with a 7mm mini. All of the inlay is intact and this is a large katana-sized tsuba. This is accompanied by an NBTHK Hozon paper that attibutes the gaurd as Heian-jo and from the Edo Jidai. No box. An ideal example for study and appreciation.
