About this sword :   This is a koto wakzashi by the 3rd or 4th generation Izumo Doei Kiyonori. This group of smiths was a side line of the Bizen Yoshii school. They moved to Izumo around the Oei jidai and were active until the late Muromachi period. Most of these smiths used the mei of "Fujiwara Kiyonori". The NBTHK paper that accompanies this blade does not specify a generation. We can judge the period of this blade based on its saki zori shape and the patina of the nakago to be circa 1500, about the time of the 4th generation. This blade shows a typical nioi deki hamon and flowing mokume /itame hada of sue Bizen. The sword had no kizu and is healthy. It is in old polish with some surface blemishes. There are no deep scratches or problem areas. This wakizashi comes with a fully resorted koshirae. The black saya retains its Edo period urushi. There are a few bumps on the saya but it is in good condition overall. The fuchi kashira are Mino Goto school. The menuki are of samurai. The tsuba is an Edo period iron example with taka-bori of waves and a gold nunome dragon. Also included is a floral design kozuka, pair of gold foil seppa and a storage bag (the bag has no tie). This is a fully mounted, ubu zamei koto wakizashi with a NBTHK paper. As mentioned above, the blade is flawless and the whole package is attractively priced.
