Ko Kinko Tsuba

Dimensions: 7.5 cm x 6.6 cm x 4 mm /

A yamagane moko-gata Ko-Kinko tsuba. This guard has a shakudo fukurin and an ishime ji. This is a classic example of early Ko-Kinko workmanship. The quite strength and spartan style of this tsuba are a delight. One could say this is a "working class" tsuba because this was the type of guard used on the battle field rather than a presentation item of the times. For those that enjoy the study of the Sengoku period, this tsuba has a unique allure. We should also note that the ryo-hitsu are in the style of Muromachi times and most likely ubu. This tsuba dates to early - mid 1500s. A charming old tsuba in excellent condition. Ideal for completing a special koshirae or for study of Ko-Kinko.
