後代美濃
Kodai Mino Tsuba

NTHK Kanteisho

Dimensions: 62 mm x 56 mm Mimi 4 mm

A shakudo nanako later Mino school tsuba. Here we see the cloud dragon and choji motif. Two dragons are wrapped around the mimi and carved in a realistic manner. The deki of this tsuba is representative of "text book" later Mino workmanship. Ideal for study, or for completing a wakizashi or tanto koshirae. The theme of cloud dragons are often encountered in tosogu. Thus, finding other tosogu to compliment this would not be a difficult task. This is accompanied by a 2002 NTHK kanteisho paper that attributes it to the Kodai(later) Mino school. There is also a kiri-bako and a pillow. This tsuba is in excellent condition and dates to the late Edo period.
