An iron sukashi tsuba. This is a very large iron sukashi tsuba in the Kukurizaru theme. The plate shows a lot of hammer work and the profile of the guard thickens toward the uchikaeshi mimi. The patina and character of the work appear quite old and one could imagine this being used on a over-sized sword common around Keicho times. This is a accompanied by a NBTHK Hozon paper attributing the work to the Shoami school. This comes with a custom made Japanese Paulownia wood box and silk pillow.
