Hamon :  Ko-nie deki gunome midare. The nioi guchi is tight and bright. There are togari and hako shapes mixed in. Inazuma is plentiful.

Boshi :   Midare-komi and hakekake ending in yakizumi.

Kitae :   Hada-tachi mokume with ji-nei and chikei.


About this sword :   This a Bingo Mihara koto tanto by one of the later generation Masaiye smiths. It is signed "Masaiye" and has a NBTHK Hozon paper stating this is a work signed by Masaiye of the Sue Mihara school. Acording to books, there were two Bingo Masaiye working in the time between 1500 - 1573. This blade has many activities to study. Inazuma, ji-nie and chikei are abundant. There are a few kitae ware as shown in the photos. The blade is in old polish. There is a section of the ura moto that has been rubbed. This tanto comes with a shira saya, solid silver double habaki, NBTHK Hozon paper and a storage bag. An ubu, zaimei, papered koto tanto with many hataraki to enjoy.
