About this sword :   This is a ken by Owari Michiyuki. He was active around Keio (1865-1868). His father was Michiaki and joint works by them remain. The ura of this blade's nakago records this as an offering to the Hakkengu Shinto Shrine. This shrine was established in 708AD, located in Nagoya. It is the betsugu (auxiliary shrine) of the Atsuta Shrine. The legendary sword Kusanagi no Tsurugi, one of the three Imperial Regalia of Japan, is worshipped as the shintai of the shrine.

This sword is in nice polish and has no kizu. The habaki is solid silver and of excellent quality. The shira-saya is finely crafted with bamboo inlay at the mekugi-ana and saya-gaki. An NTHK Kanteisho paper also accompanies this ken. A rare opportunity to own a ken that was once in the collection of the Hakkengu shinto shrine.
