An iron sukashi Namban katana tsuba. This work has intensive carving of Christian crosses, ginger, monkeys, arrows and feathers. This is a fun tsuba to study with a loupe because there is so much to see. The seppa dai is square and the web is flat. This is a kantei point of early Namban guards. The kozuka-hitsu is original. Granular tekkotsu can bee seen, especially on the mimi. The Christian cross on both sides of this tsuba is highlighted in silver wash. Please see the close-up photos below.
