Namban Tsuba

Diameter: 8.4 cm x 8 cm
Thickness: 5mm

This is a rather charming iron sukashi Namban tsuba. This is a large example and it retains its original gold nunome decoration. Probably mid Edo period. The kogai hitsu is plugged with lead and finished with a punch, this is sometimes found in tsubas that were well liked in olden days - the preference for precious metal sekiagne is more typical of Meiji period or after. A nice Namban example.

Price: $595
