About this sword :   This is a ubu naginata-zukuri wakizashi by Owari Ujinobu. Ujinobu came from the Bizen no kami Ujifusa school and his teacher was Hida no lkami Ujifusa. His real name was Kanshichurou. He was originally from Mino and moved to Owari. This unique shape is popular for its aggressive and powerful appearance. This blade was made in February of 1619. Works by Ujinobu are rare and this being a signed and dated example gives it high empirical value. Combining this with the quality and condition of the blade earned it a Tokubestu Hozon paper from the NBTHK. This is a well made blade with no Kizu and lots of nie hataraki. It is in old polish but one can enjoy the workmanship of the blade fully as it is. This comes with a striped shirasaya and an old shakudo habaki. The Tokubetsu Hozon paper and a storage bag are also included. Signed and dated works from the early shinto period are highly desirable. A great addition to any collection.
