Soten Tsuba

Dimensions: 8.3 cm x 8.3 cm Mimi 5.5 mm

A maru-gata iron sukashi Soten school tsuba. The design shows a sage with his attendant at a waterfall. This tsuba has ample carving an detail work. Gold and copper inlay as well as gold nunome can be seen. Details such as the dragon on the man's robe as well his copper face and hands show the effort put into this tsuba. It is signed "Soeishi Nyudo Soten Sei Goshu Hikone no Ju". This is a later work of the school and dates to around 1800. A large example indented for use on a katana.
