About this sword :   This is a katana by Tango no kami Fujiwara Jumyo. He originally came from Mino and his civilian name was Kondo Sukezaemon. He moved to Owari in 1628 and is said to have received the title of "Tango no Kami" around that time. He passed away in 1663 at the age of 85. The nengo recorded on the NTHK paper is circa "Kanbun" (1661-1673). Some books may record his working period as Kanbun. The Meikan and Toko Taikan record his working period as "Keicho" (1596-1615). This blade dates between the time of his title and the time of his passing. It was made between 1628 and 1663.

This is a healthy blade with an ubu nakago. One can see full fumbari in the habaki-moto as well as full nakago fumbari. Nakago fumbari indicates that the machi have not been reshaped, which is often the case in many ubu blades. So the sugata of this nakago is the same today as it was in the 17th century. This blade also has well done horimono that is most likely ubu-hori. One can observe the subtle change in the geometry near the hori that occurs after a blade with existing hori has been polished a few times over the centuries. This blade has an old flavor in its sugata. It has a high shinogi and marked saki-zori. The spirit of Mino Koto can be observed in this blade which is a direct reflection of Tango no kami Juymo's roots.

This katana comes with a 76 point (normally equal to NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon) NTHK kantiesho paper. It has a silver foil habaki and a shira-saya. A papered, ubu katana in full polish with many positive points of appreciation.
