Omi no Kami Tsuguhide Mokume Tosho Tsuba

A strong and dense mokume ji tsuba by the swordsmith, Omi no Kami Tsuguhide. This craftsman was a student of the third generation Tsuguhira. He was born in 1772 and passed away in 1861. This example has a cursive script Tenmei (1781-1789) date on the ura. This would be in the very early part of his career and is an important reference piece. The omote is signed "Manzai Tsuguhide Zo". In wonderful condition and with a deluxe tsuba-hako.
