Hamon :  Nie-deki gunome choji midare with a sugu yakidashi. The nioi-guchi is bright. Ashi can be seen at the tani of the gunome.

Boshi :  Ko-maru with a medium return.

Kitae :  Ko-itame hada with masame in the shinogi-ji.

About this sword :   This is a wakizashi by the shodai Omi no Kami Yoshihiro. He was from Ise and worked in Yamada. He was most active around Enpo (1673-1681). He used the mei of Yamashiro Kuni Ju Tsunahiro when working at Yamashiro. This blade is signed with his Kyo mei, thus an empirically important example. The blade is in full polish and there are no kizu. This is a healthy sword in excellent condition.

This work is accompanied by its Edo period koshirae. This consists of a carved kuro urushi saya and matching tsuka. There is an iron fuchi kashira and suaka menuki. The iron tsuba looks to be an Echizen Kinai example. Overall, a fine koshirae in great condition. There is a hobby-made tsunagi (wooden blade) for this koshirae. It works to store the mounts but the shape of the tsunagi is wrong, causing the tsuka to be tilted.

This wakizashi has a 76 point kanteisho paper issued by the NTHK(NPO) in 2011. 76 points is a high mark and this score fully represents the quality and condition of the blade. There are also storage bags for both the shira-saya and the koshirae. A papered, polished, mounted blade that is both ubu and zaimei. An ideal example to study and preserve.
