脇後藤笄
Waki Goto Kogai
NBTHK Hozon

Dimensions: 21.2 cm x 12 mm x 4.5 mm

A shakudo nanako kogai. This kogai is in the theme of a rooster, hen and chick. The shakudo ground is quite fine and the carving is a delight. The work has an air of refined elegance and would have been for a formal koshirae. Mid to late Edo period. This is accompanied by an NBTHK paper that attributes it to the Waki Goto school. This means "Side Goto" which indicates a school with roots in the Goto tradition. This comes with a custom fitted kiri-bako and a pillow. A visually stunning work and ideal for comparative study of tosogu.
