A large nagegaku gata iron tusba. This work features excellent nikibori of crashing waves. The design is also carved in the mimi of the work. The seashells are done in gold and silver nunome with ten zogan and gin zogan inlaid for the "spray". The kozuka ana is plugged with lead and finished with wood grain kebori. This type of plug was more common in later Edo times and shows that the tsuba was probably well thought of long ago. Circa 1800.
