NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon

Dimensions: 97.0 mm x 14.5 mm / 96.0 mm x 14.5 mm

A daisho set of Goto school kozukas. These are in the theme of tsuba. Shakudo nanako with suemon zogan of 7 tsuba on each. The tsuba are done in shakudo, gold and silver. Some of the tsuba show details such as tagane-mei, warabite, mons and waves. The deep raven black color of Goto shakudo can be clearly observed in both examples. These date to the early Edo period conservatively. A delightful theme and of high appeal to all students of tosogu. These were submitted to the NBTHK for shinsa in consecutive order. There is no formal category of futakoromono (set of two items) for two kozuka. Hence, each one received its own Tokubetsu Hozon paper. An exceedingly rare opportunity.
