An exciting shakudo nanako fuchi kashira by Hiroyuki. This set is in the theme of a dragon that is moving in and out of the shakudo ground. There are several sections where parts of the dragon's body "pierce" through the ji as if breaching a calm surface. Done in a combination of takabori and suemon zogan. The whole work is carefully crafted and in excellent condition. The NTHK paper validates the set as genuine and states that it was made in the late Edo period. There are several makers that used the mei of Hiroyuki at that time. A delightful endeavor of future research would be to collect and compare mei to narrow to the specific man. This set comes in a custom fitted box and with an NTHK Kanteisho paper. These would be stunning if used on a katana koshirae of dragon theme or highly enjoyable to keep as a boxed set.
