A set of shakudo menuki with gold and silver nunome. This charming old set has been attributed as Kyo Kinko by the NBTHK. These are early look to date to the 17th century. The theme here is from Japanese Zen teaching. The image of a boy playing a flute to charm the bull is a metaphor for training the mind to achieve enlightenment. The bull represents the true self that we must command. Accompanied by an NBHTK Hozon paper and a custom fitted kiri-bako.
