About this sword :   This is a remarkably long and robust katana by Mizuno Masakuni. He was from Owari and later moved to Edo. Masakuni became a student of Hosokawa Masayoshi and he also worked in Mito. Active circa Bunkyu times (1861-1864). This blade has a dynamic and visually stunning hamon and an admirably crafted jigane. The polish is high quality and in good condition. There are no kizu and the control shown in the yakiba is impressive for such a long blade. There is some rust and wear on the nakago as shown but it is easy to forgive. This has a deluxe shira-saya, gold foil habaki and a NBTHK Hozon paper. A rare opportunity to acquire a nearly 30 inch daito of quality, papered and polished. This blade is priced quite competitively by the owner.
