About this sword :  A powerful and healthy daito from the Nambokucho jidai. This sword has been attributed to Bungo Tokiyuki by the NBTHK. He was active circa Joji (1362-1368) and signed works by him still exist. He is ranked at 5.5 million yen in the Toko taikan and is a Wazamono smith. This blade has the classic sugata of Joji times - wide mihaba with less taper and an o-kissaki. Early Bungo works are rare and this katana shows the flavor of Bunjo Yukhira (Heian period Bungo master) in its jiba. Old wakimono blades, such as this, have an aesthetic that is natural and organic. The surface of the steel shows the result of processes learned to make a blade perform well in battle. When one thinks about the fierce wars that were raging at the time of this blade's production, we realize how precious it is to have the chance to study and enjoy it today.
This blade is in full polish. As one can see in the photos, the hada “stands up” (hada tachi) and some spots are coarse with very small inclusions. This is the deki of Bungo. There are no kizu. There is an antique gold foil and sliver habaki and the blade is stored in the shira-saya. Acompined by an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper and a storage bag
