About this sword :   A presentation tanto from the late Meiji-Taisho period. This has a mumei blade that is ubu and in the kikuchi style. The blade has a nioi-deki gunome hamon, itame hada and a ko maru boshi. The koshirae of this tanto features urushi work in aogai (crushed abalone shell) with silver inlays of cherry blossoms. The tosogu are all silver with floral kebori and a gold foil seppa. This has a lovely tanto bag and a presentation box. This would have most likely been given as a gift to a woman on her wedding day. The urushi craftsmanship of this tanto is a key element of appreciation and is quite beautiful.
